Mountain lakes seem to fascinate me every time I encounter them. Of course the sheer brilliance of the lake itself, it's reflection, and the backdrop of the mountains is what draws my eyes in. However, I think what I'm more fascinated about is the history of the area. It always makes me wonder about how long that body of water has been there and what changes it's gone through. At some point in time, a glacier might have sat in its place, eroding and shaping the foundation for what exists there now. Before that, perhaps an entirely different landscape. My imagination runs wild..
Each time it makes me realize how small we really are in comparison to our surroundings as well as the sheer force of mother nature. It makes me wonder what's to come, how this landscape will change, and how many more sunsets they'll be before it does change again.
For now, I painted the sunset I saw; One amongst more than I could fathom I'm sure. I call this painting "Evening Peace", as it brings ease to my mind.
