After spending a couple winters in the Southern Appalachians I was inspired by the homes and old structures. Many of them were set directly next to the river's edge. More recently the colors of the leaves changing where I live in Montana began to change and the mountainous backdrop stretched the horizon. All of these feelings came together in this painting where a doe and fawn find their way across the river near this cabin and fly-fisherman.
